Inspirational Arts were delighted to work in partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra’s Live , East Herts Council & The Rhodes Arts Complex to produce Talkin Generations in November 2009.

Talkin Generations was an artist led multi disciplinary project that investigated the hidden musical legacy of the Rhodes Arts Complex in Bishop’s Stortford. It examined the musical, artistic and social political period of the 1960’s through research, consultation and workshops, to create new work that was premiered at Rhodes.

In the 1960’s the Rhodes Arts Complex played host to some of the biggest names in popular music including The Who, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison & Stevie Wonder. This production was inspired by this fabulous period in Rhodes history.

Music Mix is back, but with a difference. In 2012 the focus will be on a song writing collaboration.

Renowned Music Director Jason Rowlands (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra) will be working with aspiring Hertfordshire songwriters to compose the Heart of Flame anthem. The anthem will be performed live on stage by the Mid Herts Youth Orchestra and the 3Music 2012 finalists at the Heart of Flame concert and the 3Music final showcase.

Jason will direct a series of song writing workshops with selected participants, which will culminate in a group composition and the creation of the Heart of Flame anthem, which will also be professionally recorded at Graphic Nature studios before being showcased during the Heart of Flame weekend.

The workshops will take place at the Mid Herts Centre for Music and the Arts, Hatfield on the 11th, 18th and 19th February. The workshops are free, however Places are limited for this once in a life time experience and the invited songwriters will be chosen following an online application process.
